The Hidden Variables of File Size
Ever wondered why one 10MB file becomes 1MB, but another 10MB file stays at 9MB? It depends on the internal components of the document.
1. Raster vs Vector
Raster images (scans, photos) compress incredibly well. Vector graphics (logos, digital text) are already tiny and don't shrink much further.
2. Embedded Fonts
Full font subsets can add megabytes to a file. Stripping these and using system fonts can significantly lower the floor of your file size.
How to Get to 90% Reduction:
- Convert color images to grayscale using our Edit Tool.
- Flatten layers before compressing.
- Use our "Extreme" mode on the Compress PDF page.
